Also known as 'red powder puff'. They fully bloom after the rainy season (base from my observation ^^)Everyday a hummingbird visits to feed on its nectar.

'New Dawn'

Image
Most hibiscus lovers have all their names of their flowers. Here in Philippines they name them 'Super Star: Nora Aunor', 'Mega Star: Sharon Cuneta' or 'Star of all Season:Vilma Santos'. I forget what they really look like (the flower) not because I don't have that variety because it's too expensive but because they all look the same hibiscus to me or here commonly known as 'Gumamelas'. One striking uniqueness of this tropical flower is their vibrant color and how they slowly change throughout the day. I heard among old folks not to name a pet or a plant to a person's name or it will be like the person- a human being that fades and dies. Here in this picture is a golden gumamela, I gladly name 'New Dawn' - a new beginning - for naming a flower; for naming my day - a life anew in Christ- the Maker of all things.

Flor de Luna

Flor de Luna is one of the classic perennial flower in the Philippines. Flor de Luna is Spanish word for Moon Flower hence it only blooms as the moon rises or as the night draws in.
